Frequently Asked Questions:
Are sessions in-person, online, or both?
Whether sessions are dedicated to tutoring, post-secondary planning, career counseling, or study abroad advising, in-person and/or online sessions may be requested.
What subjects are available for tutoring?
With our versatile team of tutors and specialists, it is our intention to provide tutoring for all grade levels and for all subjects. Sessions may involve homework help, test preparation, learning gap support, academic enrichment, or a combination of the listed elements.
How do I get started with tutoring?
We are a phone call, text message, email, or contact form submission away! We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss your students’ needs, then we can jump into sessions as soon as necessary.
How are tutoring sessions scheduled?
Tutoring schedules may be set on a monthly basis (i.e., same day(s) + time each week) or on a weekly basis. We understand that the schedules of students and parents change often. Therefore, we have not adopted a subscription-based service or hold families to a certain number of sessions each month.
Can I change my schedule or reschedule a session?
Certainly! When possible, our tutors are always willing to accommodate schedule changes. We ask that all cancellations or rescheduling requests be made at least 24 hours before the time of the scheduled session. However, all parents are allowed one grace cancellation made within 24 hours of the scheduled session per billing period.
How much do sessions cost?
Our current hourly rate for tutoring is $70 for in-person sessions and $60 for remote sessions. Our post-secondary education planning sessions are $250 for the initial session and $150 for each follow-up session.
What is your payment policy?
An invoice will be sent on the 25th of each month, either to the email on file or upon request, to a specified home address. Each billing period includes sessions from the 26th of the previous month to the 25th of the current.
Will I receive feedback or reports on my child’s performance?
We treat each tutor-student and specialist-student pairing as a team effort between the tutor/specialist, the student, their parent/guardian, and founder Lariel Mateo. As such, students’ sessions and progress are tracked and well-documented. A written report may be presented when necessary.
Do you coordinate with schools or teachers?
It always makes for a wonderful collaboration when we can be connected with students’ teachers, implement teacher feedback, and align sessions with course content. Depending on students’ academic situations, it can be helpful to have access to students’ course materials, progress reports, and other academic documents. We are happy to communicate with teachers and school counselors throughout the academic school year.
Do you work with students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities?
We do! Our experience allows us to use sessions to augment the accommodations within students’ Individualized Education Plans and/or Student Study Team. Founder Lariel Mateo, parents, students, and their assigned tutor will establish a tutoring plan with specific objectives, phases, and goals.
